Lamorna makes organically formed, individual bowls from fine porcelain. Each piece is wheel thrown and filled with striking, luminous precious metal lustre, creating a beautiful juxtaposition between the delicately neutral clay exterior and the deep glow of the interior. The process of developing these unique pieces is intricate. After two initial firings, they are painted with the lustre – a liquid medium containing particles of 22ct gold – then fired again to burn off the organic binding material and fuse the melted gold to the porcelain. To achieve their unmistakable rich warmth, the bowls are fired for a fourth and final time.

Lamorna studied ceramics with Jason Watson and Christine Feiler at the Penzance Art School, and works from her studio near St Just in the far west of Cornwall.
