Anna Boss

“As a runner and a dog owner I spend time outside in all weathers and seasons, and like to feel as though I am part of the landscape, rather than just observing it.”

Out in the field Anna documents the changing effects of sunlight, cloud cover and atmospheric conditions, sketching with black ink and water, while capturing detail through photography. Back in her studio, Anna carefully builds up layers of slow-drying acrylic paint and resin to create ethereal, translucent landscapes that draw you into a world where light, texture, form and distance seem to shift, subtly and perpetually.

A deep knowledge of her local environment helps to conjure the transient yet timeless: such as the moments just before rainfall, or mist settling over rolling hills.

Based in Bristol, Anna studied Fine Art at the University of the West of England (UWE).
